Wizards of the Coast has entered into an exclusive publishing agreement with Giant Skull, a new game development studio led by industry veteran Stig Asmussen, to create a brand-new, single-player action-adventure game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons.
The upcoming title will be an original narrative-driven experience for console and PC platforms. While specific gameplay and story details are still under wraps, Wizards and Giant Skull promise an epic journey through the Dungeons & Dragons universe filled with rich world-building, immersive storytelling, and fast-paced combat.
“Stig and the team at Giant Skull are exactly the type of exceptionally talented creators we want to work with,” said John Hight, president of Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming at Hasbro. “In our time working together on God of War, I got to see firsthand Stig’s artistry and expertise. He and the Giant Skull team are the perfect fit for our new game.”
Asmussen, who served as game director on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, as well as God of War III, founded Giant Skull with the goal of creating high-quality, gameplay-first experiences. “Our goal is to craft a rich new Dungeons & Dragons universe filled with immersive storytelling, heroic combat, and exhilarating traversal that players will fully embrace,” he said.
Giant Skull’s team includes talent from top-tier studios and is developing the game using Unreal Engine 5. While the new game doesn’t yet have a title or release window, fans can expect more information in the future.
This collaboration is part of Wizards’ broader digital gaming strategy, which includes a growing slate of titles based on original and legacy brands. Wizards is also continuing to expand Magic: The Gathering Arena with new content and features.
