
Pembe the Pink Cat taps WexWorks Media to lead the development of a new animated series and guide the brand’s digital entertainment strategy. The partnership marks a major step in expanding Pembe beyond GIFs, viral social media content, and toys into a multi-platform franchise.
“I’m excited to join the Pembe team and help bring this incredible character to life across screens and platforms,” says WexWorks CEO Matt Wexler. “Pembe has already inspired millions through digital sharing, and now we’ll build stories that fans everywhere can connect with in new ways.” Wexler has served as a producer and executive across film and television, working on various properties for HBO Max, Cartoon Network, BBC Studios, and Hulu.
Pembe has become a global sensation with more than 2 billion GIPHY downloads in the past nine months and millions of Instagram views. The collaboration with WexWorks builds on this momentum, pairing Pembe creator Sertan Christoffersen with a studio known for its award-winning work across film, television, and digital platforms.

The appointment complements Pembe’s growing licensing program, which includes newly launched plush and collectible toys from License 2 Play in North America, as well as Rainbow Designs and BOT-I in Europe.
