Asmodee has acquired the Zombicide intellectual property from CMON, marking a major entry in its lineup of tabletop gaming brands. This marks Asmodee’s first major acquisition since becoming an independent company earlier this year.
Zombicide, first launched via Kickstarter in 2012, revolutionized cooperative board gaming with its zombie-apocalypse theme and expansive miniature-driven gameplay. Since then, the franchise has spawned a variety of expansions and spin-offs, from crossovers to adaptations tied to pop-culture IPs.
“We are proud [that] the iconic Zombicide IP further strengthens our tabletop games portfolio and allows us to reinforce our presence in key geographies,” Asmodee CEO Thomas Kœgler says. “I can’t wait for the team to get to work on what’s coming next for this fantastic IP.”
Under Asmodee’s ownership, the franchise will now be managed within its Guillotine Games label, which provides full rights to both existing titles and future developments.
This acquisition signals Asmodee’s ongoing strategy to bolster its global tabletop presence through selective IP purchases. Enthusiasts can expect the Zombicide universe to continue expanding under new creative stewardship.
