It’s time to turn the page, because Reading Rainbow is back.
The series has a new host, Mychal Threets, and new episodes are forthcoming for young readers and their families.
Episodes air weekly starting Saturday, Oct. 4, on the Kidzuko YouTube channel and the Reading Rainbow website. Four short-form episodes are planned for October.
Books are read by Jamie Chung, Gabrielle Union, Adam DeVine, John Legend, and Chrissy Teigen, while new friends Rylee Arnold, Ezra Sosa, Bellen Woodard, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach join Mychal and the kids for new adventures and projects, like writing postcards, exploring the neighborhood, and visiting an animal shelter.
Threets is best known as Mychal the Librarian, a Californian librarian whose social media videos about the library, which he views as a positive and supportive place, went viral several years ago. Threets assumed the role of “resident librarian” with PBS last year.
Reading Rainbow aired from 1983 through 2006. The series ended when it lost funding; episodes have aired on PBS, affiliate stations, and YouTube since its conclusion.
