This morning, Pokémon fans of all ages got a first look at new shows and video games during the latest Pokémon Presents — and families might want to begin their training sessions now.
The company provided more details about the upcoming game, Pokémon Champions. In the game, kids can recruit Pokémon to train and customize for their Pokémon teams, offering tons of options for gameplay. There will be three battle modes: Ranked Battles, where players can test their skills from all over the world; Casual Battles, where Trainers can battle against other players in a more relaxed setting; and Private Battles, for kids to battle their family and friends in the same space. Pokémon Champions will be available on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and mobile devices early next year.

Families can also expect new updates for Pokémon Café ReMix, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Masters EX, Pokémon Sleep, and Pokémon Unite, as well as a new installment for the franchise: the puzzle game Pokémon Friends. In the game, players can complete puzzles to earn digital plush to decorate their in-game rooms. The game is available on iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch family of consoles now!
There’s new information about Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and it’s looking like the new screen-time staple. In addition to a brand new Mega Evolution for the Dragon/Flying-type Pokémon, Dragonite, there’s a new phenomenon of Rogue Mega Evolutions in the game. In this scenario, Pokémon will Mega Evolve on their own without a bond with a Trainer, and it will play a major part in the game’s story. Kids will meet and work alongside Naveen and Lida, members of Team MZ, to keep Lumiose City safe for Trainers and Pokémon alike, as well as other characters like the detective Emma, who may ask for help solving mysteries, and the director of the city’s Pokémon Research Lab, Mable.
While on their journey, kids will notice that the gameplay changes during the day and at night: Pokémon can be caught during the day, but at night, fellow Trainers will come out for the Z-A Royale to compete in battles and increase their ranks. As they climb to higher ranks, players will encounter more powerful opponents, like the leader of the Rust Syndicate, Corbeau. When kids aren’t battling or saving the city, they’ll get to spend time with their Pokémon and can customize their style with hair salons and clothing shops.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A will launch on Thursday, Oct. 16, and a special Nintendo Switch 2 bundle with a copy of the game is available now to preorder for $499.99 on the My Nintendo Store and at select retailers.
Families can also look forward to the newest Pokémon series, made in collaboration with Aardman, titled Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu. Featuring the classic Aardman claymation style seen in the studio’s other films like Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, the new series is sure to have plenty of hijinks. A brief teaser showcases a Wooloo going about its day while Pichu and Sirfetch’d cause commotion in the background.
