Brachiosaurus (Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary, Pop! Movies by Funko) – Dinosaur Toy Blog

Here’s a figure I didn’t anticipate adding to the collection, the Entertainment Earth Exclusive, Limited Edition, Funko Pop! Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Brachiosaurus Vinyl Figure! Whew, that was a mouthful. My Jurassic franchise Pop! collection consists of a whopping two figures, the Stygimoloch and Dilophosaurus, which both have reviews here and are the only Funko Pop! figures on the blog. As I said in those reviews, I don’t typically like the Funko Pop! style when it is applied to dinosaurs. Those in my collection are the rare exceptions. And although I liked the Brachiosaurus when I saw pictures of it across the web, I didn’t like it enough to visit Entertainment Earth’s website and buy it for retail price. I came across this one rather unexpectedly, while Christmas shopping at my local Marshall’s, a discount department store. Since it only cost $10, and was right there in front of me, I brought it home.

The Funko Pop! Brachiosaurus stands 6” (15.25 cm) tall and measures 6” long, making it a large figure by Funko Pop! standards. With proportions as wonky as they are here, there’s no point in calculating the scale of this thing. No one that’s buying these cares about the scale of it anyway.

The head is absurdly large, in keeping with Funko Pop! tradition. The head is nearly as large as that of the Mattel Brachiosaurus! The head is also the focal point for finer details, which include wrinkling and scales that look more like cracked skin. The sauropod is clutching leaves within its mouth, and you can see some peg-like teeth within the slightly open portion. The rest of the body is detailed with wrinkles and skin folds. The proportions are cartoony and include shortened limbs and a shortened, curled tail. The figure is painted gray with a tan jaw. The underside of the neck, torso, and tail are also tan, and the toenails are tan too. The eyes are big, black, and vacant. Again, in keeping with the companies’ aesthetic.

There’s nothing to really complain about here, aside from the visible seams around the head, limbs, and tail. Funko Pop! figures are the sort of collectables you either like or don’t like. Judging by the star ratings on the other Pop! reviews, most of our readership probably won’t be enthusiastic about this one. For me, this is one of the few Pop! dinosaurs that I find cute and endearing, and I thought it would be fun to feature it on the blog. The Funko Pop! Brachiosaurus can be found widely online through the secondary market but for more than what I paid. If you live near a Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, or Home Goods, it might be worth popping in to see if they have one too.
